Job description

Job Overview

Set up and operate all machine tools in the tool room, including but not limited to Ram's Wires and CNC machining centers.

A Day In The Life

  • Perform skilled tasks under the supervision of a licensed toolmaker, including identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing tools and equipment.
  • Operate conventional mills, grinders, and lathes, with work tolerances of +/-.0005.
  • Produce tooling components and other parts based on verbal instructions, drawings, sketches, and machine programs.
  • Create, edit, and interpret CAD-generated programs.
  • Use measuring tools accurately.
  • Operate overhead hoists and cranes.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

What Will Help You Thrive in This Role

  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and design models.
  • Experience setting up machines and familiarity with CNC machining centers.
  • Experience manufacturing tools, dies, and machine parts using machine tools.
  • Skill in measuring finished parts with micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Ability to assemble, disassemble, and test products for quality and functionality.
  • Repair damaged or worn tools and dies.
  • Inspect finished products for defects and quality compliance.
  • Coordinate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot and meet requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment according to safety regulations.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.
