Job summary

Cleaver-Brooks Sales & Service is seeking an experienced welding foreman to run pipe and structural welding crews. You will supervise the assembly of boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels per blueprints and manuals, and lead on-site and in-shop welding operations.

You will read engineering drawings, coordinate parts, position and weld components, and ensure quality and safety. 50% travel may be required, with strong leadership and communication skills essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience running pipe and structural welding crews.
  • Experience with pipefitting, assembly of boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels per blueprints or manuals.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings/diagrams and verify parts before use.
  • Must be able to communicate job scope and progress with customer and management.
  • Welding certifications SMAW and GTAW are required.

  • Lead welding crews in field and shop settings.
  • Position, fit, and weld parts according to blueprints and layout specs.
  • Oversee quality conformance using measuring tools.
  • Travel as required (up to 50%).

Job description

Must have minimum three years’ experiencerunningpipe and structural weldingcrewsas well asexperience withpipefitting,assembly ofboilers, tanks, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications or manuals.Researchestechnical drawings/diagrams/materials to ensureappropriate partspulled for a specific job.Capable of communicating job scope and progress with customer and company management.

Essential Functions ...
  • SubjectMatterExpertin ASME codeSMAW and GTAWwelding.
  • Must be proficient with cutting torch and be able to carbon arc gouge.
  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, followingblueprintsand layout specs,using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, andmeasuring tapes.
  • Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
  • Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and othercomponentspecifications.
  • Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt traps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
  • Study engineering drawings and blueprints todeterminematerials requirements and task sequences.
  • Planning sequence of re-tubes to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • Overseeing and providingdirectionto craft labor executing daily work activities in the shop.
  • Make decisions based on measurablecriteria;and visualize objects inthree-dimensionsfrom plans and drawings.
  • Follow allcompany’spolicies and procedures, including but not limited to Safety and Quality Control.
  • Travel asrequired.(up to50% of the time,usuallywithin 200 miles)
  • Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
  • Able to work in confined spaces, such as manways, pressure vessels, tanks, etc.
  • Support peers and management with internal and external projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Skill and Effort ...

Able to lift 50 pounds.

Working Conditions and Hazards ...
  • Knowledge of Industrial &commercial safety, General BasicplusSafety, LOTO, working overhead, confined space entry, basic electricity safety.
  • Able to work in confined and elevated areas. Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Educationand experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.

3 years’ experience as a craftforeman/supervisor

Certification:

SMAW and GTAW certifications
