Job summary

Cleaver-Brooks, Inc. is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator in Thomasville, GA to build and assemble structural metal components from blueprints and specs. You will read blueprints, lay out parts, and use cutting torches and gouging tools to craft high-quality welds.

The role requires safety-focused, detail-oriented individuals capable of completing ASME welding certification tests within the established timeframe and contributing to a safe, efficient shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, lay out, position, align, and fit structural metal components from blueprints.
  • Operate cutting torches and carbon arc gouging safely and proficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and process sheets.
  • Use tape measures, levels and other devices for precise fit and alignment.
  • Perform welding and fabrication using established techniques and quality standards.
  • Complete required ASME welding certification tests within the designated timeframe.
  • Adhere to all plant safety rules and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Location: Thomasville, GA

We’re looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator who takes pride in quality craftsmanship and brings strong welding and fabrication skills to the job. The ideal candidate can confidently read and work from blueprints, take accurate measurements, and use the tools and equipment required for structural metal fabrication.

You should be safety-focused, detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to producing high-quality work. Candidates must also have the skills and experience necessary to successfully complete required ASME welding certification tests within the established timeframe.

Basic Function:

Perform skilled welding and fabrication work to build and assemble structural metal components according to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Fabricate, lay out, position, align, and fit structural metal components according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Safely and proficiently operate cutting torches and perform carbon arc gouging.
  • Read, interpret, and work accurately from blueprints, drawings, and process sheets.
  • Use tape measures, levels, and other measuring devices to ensure proper fit, alignment, and accuracy.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work using established techniques and quality standards.
  • Successfully complete required ASME welding certification tests within the established timeframe.
  • Follow all plant safety rules, procedures, and regulations while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:

Technical training from an accredited school or six (6) months of related welding experience.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. chest high on a regular basis. Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on hard cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat and climb ladders up to 8 feet high. Will require working in areas up to 15 feet from the ground. Must be able to climb stairs and work in temperature ranges corresponding with the outside ambient temperatures.

Must be able to access all areas of the plant both inside and outside. Will be exposed to noise, dust, and dirt, welding fumes and machine lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes and fall protection.
