Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter for overhead crane fabrication in Ashland, VA. This contract-to-hire role involves reading shop drawings, interpreting welding symbols, and producing high-quality FCAW welds to AWS standards.

You will work 10-hour shifts, with Saturdays as needed, and lift up to 50 lbs. Starting pay is $26.00 per hour, with potential for higher wages based on experience and performance; a $850 sign-on bonus is available after six months.

Qualifications

• Welding and fitting experience in industrial fabrication.
• Ability to read shop drawings and AWS welding symbols.
• Experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
• Ability to meet vertical full-penetration and overhead weld test standards.
• Understanding of AWS D1.1 and D14.1 welding standards.

Responsibilities

• Fit, fabricate, and weld crane components from shop drawings.
• Produce FCAW welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D14.1 standards.
• Interpret welding symbols and fabrication specifications.
• Pass full-penetration vertical weld test and overhead fillet weld test.
• Follow safety procedures in a heavy industrial environment.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Work 10-hour shifts and Saturdays as required.

Job Overview

We are hiring a skilled Welder/Fitter to fabricate and weld components for overhead cranes and related equipment. This role requires the ability to work from shop drawings, interpret welding symbols, and produce high-quality Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) welds that meet applicable AWS standards.
