Job summary

Atlas Copco North America LLC in Michigan City, IN is seeking a Welder Fabricator to join our production team. You will weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping to exact specs and fabricate parts per project requirements.

The role requires reading blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings, inspecting welds, and maintaining safety and quality. Overtime including weekends may be required; the position offers hands-on training and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on welding experience (MIG, TIG, ARC).
• Knowledge of metal properties and stainless steel fabrication.
• Experience with PWHT and preheat/interpass control.
• Ability to read blueprints, isometrics, and P&IDs.
• Proficient with pipe preparation and fit-up.
• Comfort with overtime including weekends.
• Safe, reliable, team-oriented.
• Experience with piping runs and stainless-steel operations (code compliance preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently under deadlines.
• Welding certification or trade school education.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Blueprints & P&IDs interpretation.
• Pipe layout and securing pipe sections.
• Attention to standardized procedures.
• Teamwork and good communication.
• Reliability and safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping to required specifications.
• Fabricate parts and structures according to project requirements.
• Inspect welds for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as needed.
• Operate fork trucks, overhead cranes, jib cranes, and other mobile equipment for material movement.
