Job summary

Howden is seeking a Welder/Fabricator at Windsor, CT to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, using TIG and MIG processes to build metal assemblies.

You will read blueprints, lay out parts, set up fabricating machines, and ensure parts meet specifications while maintaining a safe, clean work area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years welding experience.
• Certification is a plus.
• Must possess mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Excellent communication and detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Perform TIG and MIG welding daily.
• Review blueprints and specs to determine materials and procedures.
• Layout, align, and secure parts before assembly.
• Weld aluminum and stainless steel as required.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines.
• Verify conformance to specifications with measuring tools.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.

We are currently seeking a Welder/Fabricator based at our Windsor, CT location.

What Will You Do?

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
• Perform TIG and MIG welding on a daily basis
• Reviews blueprints, work instructions, and job specifications to determine appropriate materials, tools, and procedures needed to complete processes
• Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
• Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum and stainless steel
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
• Set up and operation of fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, rollers, saws, seam welder, plasma cutter and punch press.
• Verifies conformance of work pieces to specification, using square, ruler and measuring tape.
• Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe work area

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

Standing, bending, stooping for long periods of time. Walk the production floor. Lift up to 25lbs. Look at computer screen.

Your Experience Should Be...

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 3 plus years of welding experience.
• Current and valid certification a plus
