Job summary

Chart Industries, Inc. in Windsor, CT, is seeking a skilled welder to join our fabrication team. You will perform TIG and MIG welding, read blueprints, and prepare parts for assembly on flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

We require 3+ years of welding experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Certification is a plus, and you will work in a clean, safety-focused environment with opportunities for growth and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of welding experience.
  • Current and valid certification a plus.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Standing, safe handling of materials and use of measurement tools as part of daily welding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Perform TIG and MIG welding daily
  • Review blueprints, work instructions and job specs to determine materials and procedures
  • Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies using straightedges, squares, calipers, and rulers
  • Weld with aluminum and stainless steel
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to achieve desired configurations
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines (shears, brakes, rollers, saws, seam welder, plasma cutter, punch press)
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using measuring tools

What Will You Do?

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…



  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions

  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on a daily basis

  • Reviews blueprints, work instructions, and job specifications to determine appropriate materials, tools, and procedures needed to complete processes

  • Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers

  • Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum and stainless steel

  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding

  • Set up and operation of fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, rollers, saws, seam welder, plasma cutter and punch press.

  • Verifies conformance of work pieces to specification, using square, ruler and measuring tape.


Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures


Maintain a clean and safe work area


Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

Standing, bending, stooping for long periods of time. Walk the production floor. Lift up to 25lbs. Look at computer screen.


Your Experience Should Be...

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
