Job summary

Welding Works, a custom metal fabrication business in Madison, CT, is seeking an experienced Fabricator/Welder for first shift. The role requires setting up and operating fabrication and welding equipment, reading blueprints, and maintaining shop cleanliness.

Candidates must have real-time fabrication/welding experience, strong English communication, and the ability to work independently. OT is available at 1.5x, with comprehensive benefits and a 7:00am–3:30pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years or more real-time fabrication and welding experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand layouts and means of manufacture.
• Proficient in set-up and operation of fabrication equipment (shears, brakes, rolls, iron worker, saws).
• Strong understanding of plasma cutting and oxy-fuel cutting.

Responsibilities

• Set up and safely operate fabrication and welding equipment.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area; report defects or issues to supervisor.

Welding Works is a custom metal fabrication business located in Madison, CT.

Qualifications:

• MUST HAVE real-time experience in fabrication and some welding. Three (3) years or more.
• Ability to read blueprints, understand layouts, and the means of manufacture.
• Proficient in set-up and operations of most fabrication equipment: Shears, Press Brake, Angle Rolls, Plate Rolls, Iron Worker, and Saws.
• Strong understanding of Plasma Cutting, Oxy-Acetylene - Torch Cutting, and carbon-Arc gouging.
• Functional knowledge of hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, and sanders in the setup and fitting for welding or in finishing of welds.
• Functional knowledge of welding machine operation, regulating current, and voltage for the proper fusion of metals.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities:

• Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Set up and safely operate fabrication and welding equipment.
• May work with or without fixtures with the attention to detail required in blocking, clamping, or holding parts in relative position to avoid distortion.
• Report defective materials, unusual conditions, errors, or operational difficulties to the supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting 1- 50 lbs. (Occasionally 51-100 lbs.).
• Pushing & pulling 1-50 lbs. (Occasionally 51-100 lbs.).
• Repetitive use of hands and feet required (both right & left).
