Position Overview
The Welder Assembly Operator is responsible for welding production orders or components using MIG and TIG processes to meet customer and quality specifications. This involves applying training or knowledge of welding techniques, set-up requirements, and consistently meeting production targets.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assemble parts to complete units and components in a specialized area.
- Perform processes such as Fixture Weld Inner Assemblies, Insulation Wrapping, Auto-Welder Operations, End of Cell Checking Fixtures, and Air testing.
- Use inspection tools to measure welded components and ensure quality standards are met.
- Set up and operate machines to produce finished products.
- Perform specialized assembly operations like jigging, air testing, and component assembly.
- Follow all ITAR procedures as applicable.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and appropriately.
- Maintain cleanliness and inspect parts regularly.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately.
- Participate in corrective actions to prevent defects.
- Follow procedures to ensure repeatability and quality.
- Attend team meetings and suggest continuous improvements.
- Adhere to safety and OSHA standards, including PPE use and lifting limits.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment following 5S principles.
- Ensure quality workmanship that exceeds customer expectations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or leads.
Job Requirements
- Stay current with all welding methods required by NGP or clients.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, proficiency in shop math, reading and following routing and setup instructions, and blueprints.
- Proficiency with measuring instruments like tape measures and dial calipers.
- Pass the NGP Weld Test.
- Proven ability to meet production demands and solve problems based on previous experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for 10-hour shifts.
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and lift parts.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Lift at least 25 lbs.
