Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear in Clarksville, TX is seeking a skilled welder to join our production team. You will weld metal parts using MIG welding, read blueprints and process sheets, and inspect welds to ensure quality.

The role requires the ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and work from detailed instructions. We offer second shift hours (3:00pm–11:00pm) with a 6% shift premium, a strong safety culture, and opportunities for career growth within an established manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Must weld 3G and 4G positions in carbon and stainless steel.
  • MIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Stick and Flux Core welding is a plus.
  • Experience with grinding tools and machines preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English instructions and complete simple logs.
  • Physically able to handle heavy items and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Weld metal parts using MIG welding process.
  • Work from process sheets, blueprints or instructions from supervisor.
  • Maneuver large or heavy parts manually or with a crane.
  • Inspect welds and use grinders when necessary.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Follow tolerances and work in other areas as assigned.
  • Second Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday to Friday.

What will you do?

Complete welding processes on parts, using blueprints and process sheets. Check and inspect completed parts before sending to next department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Weld metal parts using MIG welding process
  • Work from process sheets, blueprints or other written/verbal instructions given by supervisor to perform production tasks.
  • Maneuver large, awkward, or heavy parts manually or with a crane.
  • Inspect welds throughout process and use grinding tools when necessary
  • Maintain machine and work area in a clean and safe manner.
  • Check and inspect operation against predetermined tolerances.
  • Work in other areas or departments as assigned.
  • Second Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm (Monday - Friday)

  • Must be able to weld 3G & 4G positions in both carbon and stainless steel.
  • Must have MIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Stick and Flux Core welding a plus
  • Experience with grinding tools and machines preferred
  • Simple oral communication skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English and complete simple logs and reports in English
  • Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components
  • Must be able to work scheduled hours and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policies
  • Must be able to consistently stand for entire shift
  • Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials is a plus, as is general mechanical knowledge
