Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear Inc. in Albemarle, NC is seeking skilled Welders to join our 3rd shift team. You will perform MIG welding, operate metalworking machines, read blueprints, and inspect welds to ensure quality.

The role requires ability to lift heavy parts, stand through the shift, and work from 11:00 pm to 9:00 am Mon-Thu. We offer comprehensive benefits, a shift premium, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• MIG welding experience in manufacturing or technical schooling.
• Able to read a tape measure to 1/16" with accuracy.
• Basic English reading and writing for logs and reports.
• Physically able to lift and move heavy components.

Responsibilities

• MIG weld parts and ensure quality per specs.
• Operate metalworking machines (shears, presses, grinders).
• Fabricate metal parts from blueprints and sketches.
• Follow production sheets and supervisor instructions.
• Inspect welds and finish as needed with grinding tools.
• Maintain clean and safe work area and machines.
• Read blueprints accurately for fabrication.
• Provide cross-functional support as required.
• Adhere to company timekeeping and shift schedule.

We're looking for skilled Welders like you!

What You’ll Do:

• MIG Welding: Perform MIG welding to join metal parts, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications.
• Machine operation: Operate metalworking machines such as shears, presses, and grinders to shape metal parts as required.
• Fabrication of metal parts: Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using various hand and power tools, ensuring adherence to specifications.
• Blueprint interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to accurately fabricate metal parts according to the design.
• Production Task Execution: Follow process sheets, blueprints, or verbal instructions from the supervisor to complete production tasks accurately.
• Material Handling: Maneuver large or heavy parts manually or with the assistance of a crane, as required.
• Weld Inspection & Finishing: Inspect welds throughout the process for quality, using grinding tools as necessary to achieve desired finishes.
• Machine & Workspace Maintenance: Keep machines and work areas clean and adhere to safety protocols.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished work to ensure it meets predetermined tolerances and standards.
• Cross-Functional Support: Assist in other areas or departments as assigned to meet production needs.

What You’ll Bring:

• MIG Welding Experience: Prior experience in MIG welding within a manufacturing environment or equivalent technical schooling is required.
• Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with grinding tools, drill presses, and ironwork is advantageous. Must be able to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16" increments.
• Communication & Documentation: Basic oral communication skills; ability to read and understand written instructions in English and complete basic logs and reports in English.
• Physical Capability: Physically able to lift, push, pull, and position heavy components as required.
• Attendance & Compliance: Ability to work scheduled hours and adhere to company timekeeping and all other policies.
• Shift Endurance: Ability to consistently stand for the entire duration of the shift in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Mechanical Knowledge: General mechanical knowledge is beneficial.
• Team Orientation: Able to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team player.
• Attention to Detail: Demonstrates accuracy and reliability in all tasks.

Your Schedule:

• 3rd Shift - Monday - Thursday 11:00 pm - 9:00 am (4 - 10 hour shift)
