Job summary

Chalfant Manufacturing in Avon, OH is seeking a Welder to perform MIG welding for cable tray systems. You will read blueprints, prepare materials, set up equipment, and produce high-quality welds that meet standards. This role requires focus and teamwork in a manufacturing setting.

You will layout, position parts, verify dimensions with gauges, perform post-weld finishing, and maintain equipment while following safety rules. Experience with aluminum welds is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in MIG welding.
• Demonstrate good MIG welds of aluminum.
• Skilled with hand tools, grinders and precision measuring tools.
• Certification in welding or completion of a welding training program.
• Experience in TIG welding is a plus.
• Team collaboration and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate MIG welding equipment to weld parts within acceptable standards.
• Build weldments through manual layout and manual surface preparation when required.
• Read and interpret welding blueprints, work orders and welding symbols.
• Position parts to be joined using fixtures, clamps and other holding or positioning devices.
• Use gauges to verify parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.
• Perform post-weld cleanup, including grinding and finishing.
• Identify and correct welding defects or inconsistencies.
• Maintain welding equipment and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Set up straight section jigs as to width of tray and rung spacing.
• Weld all basic types of ladder-type tray.
• Set up welding guns for steel, stainless steel and aluminum parts.
• Maintain quality and production standards.
• Communicate all malfunctions of equipment and errors.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and keep work area clean.

Job Summary/Purpose:

The Welder is responsible for performing MIG welding operations to fabricate and assemble metal components used in cable tray systems. This includes reading blueprints, preparing materials, and executing high-quality welds that meet company and industry standards. The welder must be capable of setting up equipment, performing manual layout and prep work, and ensuring all weldments meet dimensional and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

• Set up and operate MIG welding equipment using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts within acceptable standards.
• Build weldments through manual layout and manual surface preparation process when required.
• Read and interpret welding blueprints, work orders and welding symbols.
• Position parts to be joined using fixtures, clamps and other holding or positioning devices.
• Use required measuring instruments and gauges to verify that parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.
• Perform post-weld clean-up, including grinding, polishing and finishing.
• Identify and correct welding defects or inconsistencies.
• Maintain welding equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Set up straight section jigs as to width of tray and rung spacing.
• Weld all basic types of ladder-type tray.
• Set up welding guns for both steel, stainless steel and aluminum parts.
• Maintain quality and production standards.

Required Qualifications/Experience:
