Job summary

Chalfant Manufacturing, a division of the OBO Bettermann Group, is seeking a Welder in Avon, OH to perform MIG welding for cable tray systems. The role includes reading blueprints, preparing materials, and welding to meet quality standards.

You will set up equipment, perform layout, and ensure wellements meet tolerances and safety rules. The ideal candidate has MIG welding experience in manufacturing, basic aluminum welding skills, and is proficient with hand tools and precision measuring tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in MIG welding.
• Demonstrate good MIG welds of aluminum.
• Skilled in using hand tools, grinders, and precision measuring tools.
• Certification in welding or completion of a welding training program.
• Experience in TIG welding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate MIG welding equipment using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts within acceptable standards.
• Build weldments through manual layout and manual surface preparation process when required.
• Read and interpret welding blueprints, work orders and welding symbols.
• Position parts to be joined using fixtures, clamps and other holding or positioning devices.
• Use required measuring instruments and gauges to verify that parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.
• Perform post-weld clean-up, including grinding, polishing and finishing.
• Identify and correct welding defects or inconsistencies.
• Maintain welding equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Set up straight section jigs as to width of tray and rung spacing.
• Weld all basic types of ladder-type tray.
• Set up welding guns for both steel, stainless steel and aluminum parts.
• Maintain quality and production standards.
• Communicate all malfunctions of equipment and errors.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Job Summary/Purpose:

The Welder is responsible for performing MIG welding operations to fabricate and assemble metal components used in cable tray systems.
