Job Summary

Wastequip has an immediate opportunity for a MIG Welder to support our Salisbury, NC manufacturing operation. The role requires expertise in MIG welding techniques, focusing on the assembly of components, parts, and structures. A strong ability to interpret technical drawings and adhere to work orders is essential. Starting rate: $24.29 plus full‑time benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
• Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
• Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
• Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch.
• Toggles regulator valves to activate gas flow, lights torch, and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame.
• Holds and guides torch at the proper angle to cut metal.
• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Scuffs or grooves welds and parts.
• Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
• Completes tasks while adhering to production schedules.
• Communicates any issues or quality concerns to the department supervisor.
• Ensures compliance with all safety and quality standards.
• Operates all tools and equipment safely.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to the manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• Must pass a 2G welding test in the GMAW process with .045 solid wire.
• Six months of MIG welding experience required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Knowledge of basic math and tape‑measure reading.
• Ability to read blueprints and measuring tape (preferred).
• Experience in a fast‑paced production environment preferred.
• Ability to pass all EHS requirements.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and perform basic mathematical operations.
• Ability to follow instructions under limited supervision.
