General Atomics' Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group in Tupelo, MS is seeking a Welder to join our team under close supervision, performing routine welding on aluminum and steel parts to required tolerances, and setting up welding equipment to produce high quality welds.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, TIG welding knowledge, and the ability to read blueprints and manufacturing docs; strong safety, teamwork and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of welding concepts and TIG welding techniques.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing documentation (diagrams, drawings, specs).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates welding equipment used in work operations to produce high quality welds in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Monitors quality in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May participate in recommending proper tools and materials for work to be performed; monitors proper use of welding equipment and safety practices.
  • Maintains required certifications.
  • Performs housekeeping and cleanup duties as required.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group focuses on the military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies, including power generation and distribution, magnetic levitation, laser and weapons systems, and systems design and engineering. The EMS Group supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation as well as a range of commercial customers.

The EMS Group supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation as well as a range of commercial customers. We have an opportunity for a Welder to join our team in Tupelo, MS! Under close supervision with detailed instructions, this position is responsible for performing routine welding processes on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys. Sets up and operates welding equipment to produce high quality welds in standard shapes and sizes. Follows verbal and written instructions including blueprints, sketches and production documentation and maintains required certifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sets up and operates welding equipment used in work operations to produce high quality welds in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Monitors quality in accordance with quality specifications.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the required certifications and demonstrate a basic understanding of welding concepts, and practices, including manufacturing documentation such as diagrams, drawings, specifications and work instructions and knowledge of TIG welding techniques.
  • Must possess:
    • the ability to communicate and understand written and verbal communication;
    • the ability to identify issues and use independent judgment in performing welding functions; as well as,
    • interpersonal communication skills to explain basic information and effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.

Job Type: Full-Time Hourly
Salary range: 43,740 - 65,033
