Job Description
Wastequip has an immediate opportunity for a Welder to support our Container Pros operation. This is a full‑time position located at 16011 West Belfort, SugarLand, Texas77498, with shift hours from 6:00AM to 2:30PM and overtime as needed. The hourly pay rate is $27.76. Responsibilities
- Lay out, position, and tack weld workpieces.
- Weld along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
- Connect regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch operation.
- Turn regulator valves to activate gas flow, light torch, and adjust gas mixture and pressure for desired flame.
- Hold and guide torch at the proper angle to cut metal.
- Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
- Scarfs or grooves welds and parts.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Stand, walk, reach, stoop, lift, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required.
- Regularly lift and move up to 25lb.; frequently lift and move up to 50lb.; and occasionally lift and move up to 90lb.
- Maintain distance, close, peripheral, and depth vision during work.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of MIG welding experience and/or training.
- Experience welding on rusty material preferred.
- Fabrication experience/skills.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
- Basic math, tape‑measure reading, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
- Self‑motivated and reliable.
- Read blueprints and use measuring tape.
- Experience in a fast‑paced production environment preferred.
- Ability to pass all required EHS tests and clearances.
