Job summary

Nordfab Pty Ltd in Thomasville, NC is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to lay out, assemble, and weld fabrications from galvanized and stainless steel. Experience with MIG welding and fabrication machinery is preferred; ability to read blueprints and use a tape measure is required.

You will operate brakes, shears, spot welders, rollers, and drill presses, and contribute to quality by setting up equipment and securing parts for welding.

Qualifications

  • MIG welding experience required; TIG a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, assemble and weld fabricated components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints; plan layout and welding sequence.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, MIG or gas welding processes.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area and follow safety protocols.

Job Description
Summary

Lays out, fits, assembles, and welds fabricated components of various sizes made from sheet metal, angle bar, flat bar, etc. in galvanized steel, mild steel, and stainless steel.

Qualifications
  • Experienced in MIG. TIG welding is a plus. (1-2 years’ experience or schooling preferred.)
  • Experienced with all types of Fabrication Machinery (Brakes, Shears, Spot Welders, Swaging and Beading Machines, Rollers, Iron Workers, Drill Presses and various hand tools)
  • Have the ability to read and interpret blue prints, and read a tape measure to 1/16” accuracy.
  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas‑shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Assembles some parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to add and subtract fractions down to 1/16” of an inch.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills needed.
  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Scope of Responsibility

This job follows standard practices and procedures, and is expected to accomplish work assignments under readily available supervision. Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must keep a clean work area and practice all safety protocols established by management and the company.

  • Work is performed in a production environment where disruptions occur frequently.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
