Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on variations of metal components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and blueprints to determine welding requirements.
  • Prepare materials and surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and fitting parts before welding.
  • Inspect finished welds for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to specifications using measuring instruments and visual checks.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and fixtures in good working order.
  • Adhere to welding procedures, safety policies, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation of completed work.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality inspectors, and team members to address production challenges and resolve defects.
  • Operate other fabrication tools and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Job Summary

Responsible for performing high-quality welding operations on sheet metal components using MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding techniques. This role involves interpreting blueprints, fitting and assembling parts, and ensuring that welds meet precise engineering and quality standards. The MIG/TIG Welder works as part of a fabrication team to produce accurate and reliable metal assemblies used in various industrial applications.

Required Skills
  • Education and experience:
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Certification in MIG/TIG welding is preferred.
    • 2 or more experience welding sheet metal using MIG/TIG techniques in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills:
    • Proficient in MIG/TIG welding techniques on thin-gauge sheet metal.
    • Skilled in reading blueprints, weld symbols, fabrication drawings.
    • Knowledge of welding properties of various metals and understanding of heat control to prevent warping or defects.
