Job summary

Sealevel Construction, Inc. in Louisiana is seeking a Welder to join our field crew. The role requires welding in structural and pipe projects, operating welding equipment and following safety protocols.

The ideal candidate has two or more years of welding experience, with field structural welding and the ability to pass the 6GR certification; reading prints is a plus. This on-site position emphasizes quality, safety, and teamwork on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Promotes, executes and adheres to the company’s health, safety, and environmental program.
• Sets and operates welding machines for applicable welding processes.
• Performs welding on structural, pipe, and/or automatic welding projects.
• Passes required welding tests and maintains quality for NDT testing.
• Operates hand tools and utilizes lifts when required.
• Follows written or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Inspects work for defects and ensures conformance to specifications.
• Performs other construction duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Two or more years of experience in welding preferred.
• Field structural welding experience preferred
• Ability to pass 6GR welding certification.
• Experience with reading prints preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Promotes, executes and adheres to the company’s health, safety, and environmental program.
• Sets and operates welding machine for applicable welding processes (stick, short arc, flux core, tig, fill and cap, automatic, etc).
• Performs welding processes assigned for either structural, pipe, and/or automatic welding projects.
• Passes required welding test in accordance to AWS D1.1 latest edition.
• Maintains quality of welding that can pass NDT testing procedures.
• Performs welding assignments in a safe and efficient manner practicing safety at all times.
• Operates applicable hand tools (chipping hammers, grinders, etc).
• Operates high reaches or man lifts are requires when having to perform welding assignments above ground level.
• Follows instructions, written and/or verbal, with little or no supervision.
• Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straight edges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Performs other construction duties or task as required based on company’s needs.
