Job description

Job Summary

The welder position will have expertise in MIG Welding techniques, focusing on the assembly of components, parts, and structures as specified by prints, layouts and/or jigs and fixtures. Hourly rate: $26.50 - $28.88 (based on experience).

Responsibilities
  • Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks.
  • Lay out, position, and tack weld work pieces.
  • MIG weld along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
  • Connect regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torches.
  • Turn regulator valves to activate flow of gases, light torch and adjust gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame.
  • Hold and guide torch at proper angle to cut metal.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Scarfs or grooves welds and parts.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
  • Complete tasks while adhering to production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Required MIG welding experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
  • Basic math and tape measure reading knowledge (preferred).
  • Experience in a fast‑paced production environment (preferred).
  • Ability to pass all EHS requirements.
Physical and Work Environment
  • Employee must regularly stand, walk, reach, and stoop.
  • Lifting: up to 25 lbs, 50 lbs frequently, up to 90 lbs occasionally.
  • Must have distance, up close, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Environment includes heat, noise, vibration, smoke, dust, fumes, dirt, grease, oil; occasional cramped or confined spaces.
