Job summary

Manitou Group in the United States is seeking a skilled welder for our Madison, SD facility. You will perform welding tasks, read blueprints, and set up work with fixtures to fabricate and repair large mechanical products per instructions and schedule.

We offer 1st shift or 2nd shift options with a 15% differential for the second shift, base pay of $25–$28 per hour plus a quarterly bonus, plus Medical/Dental/Vision, 401(k) matching, tuition reimbursement, and more.

Qualifications

• Welding experience per procedures and blueprints.
• Must obtain basic Weld Certification as minimum for weld positions.
• Read and understand job orders, specifications and diagrams.

Responsibilities

General Accountability

Safely perform welding, weld components with welding equipment to fit and join, fabricate and/or repair heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform weld duties
• Weld components with weld equipment as specified by procedures, layout, blueprint, diagrams, work order and oral instruction
• Have or must acquire the “basic” Weld Certification as the minimum requirement for all weld positions
• Perform welds ranging from simple tacks to complex welds, in varying positions
• Set‑up, lay out work using fixtures and guides to repair, modify or fabricate parts and/or equipment products
• Operate and/or use related equipment and tools: forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders, torches, drills, punches, tape measure and Air Arc
• Read, understand and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions and procedures
• Work from assembly prints and specifications
• Perform own set‑ups or work from prints and/or job specification
• Maintain a level of work performance in accordance with Manitou standards and/or job specifications
• Perform or assist in other assigned duties as qualified
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules and regulations

Expertise & Requirements

• Equipment & PPE: safety shoes (metatarsal), safety glasses/goggles, gloves and other personal protective equipment as needed
• Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities: repetitive tasks, physically demanding, attention to detail, hand‑eye coordination, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly
• Essential Skills: perform work standing on concrete for minimum 8 to 10 hours per day, willingness to train or work outside scheduled shift, regular and reliable attendance, perform work safely in accordance with all company safety policies, procedures and PPE requirements, ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay: $25 – $28 per hour (plus 15 % shift differential if on 2nd shift), with a potential quarterly bonus based on performance metrics
• Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications and work location
