Job summary

MANITOU Group in Madison, South Dakota seeks an experienced fixture/tooling professional to build and maintain jigs and fixtures for fabrication, welding and assembly. You will read CAD drawings, set up machines and support product development on prototype projects.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, a 2-year degree preferred, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Onsite, first shift, permanent position with a comprehensive benefits program.

Responsibilities

• Build jigs and fixtures for fabrication, weld, paint and assembly.

• Validate fixtures and tools.
• Troubleshoot fixture issues.
• Train production personnel on fixture operation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to ensure quality and flow.
• Contribute to product development via prototypes and concepts.

General Accountability

Working closely with our Manufacturing Engineering team, this position is responsible for building tools and fixtures for new products as well as maintaining and adapting current structures for existing products. This position requires a high level of creativity, teamwork, and strong communication skills. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.

Available Shift: 1st Shift – Monday-Thursday 5a-3:30p

Duties & Responsibilities

• Build jigs and fixtures for fabrication, weld, paint and assembly processes.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics and CAD drawings.
• Identification and measurement of metal stock for machining.
• Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders and milling machines.
• Fitting and assembling fixture, tool and die parts.
• Validating completed fixtures, tools and dies.
• Troubleshoot issues and/or repair existing jigs and fixtures.
• Provide training to production personnel on fixture operation as required.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to ensure quality and product flow.
• Involved in product development via the creation of prototypes and concept ideas as assigned.

Experience

• 5-years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Expertise

• Continuous improvement mindset.
• Familiarity with GibbsCAM and CNC operated equipment.
• Hydraulic/ pneumatic knowledge.
• Self-motivated and works independently.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Team mentality with ability to collaborate.
• Ability to accurately use measuring tools.
• Understanding of material and other manual shop equipment used in fixture design.
• Must have a working knowledge of fabrication and welding processes.
• Must have the ability to lift approximately 50 pounds periodically.

Education

• 2 year degree preferred in a related field

• Base Pay Range between $24.50 – $32.50 per hour plus a potential quarterly bonus based on performance metrics
• Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications & work location
• This position is located onsite in Madison, South Dakota
