Job summary

Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc. in Louisville, KY is seeking a skilled Welder to join the Steel Services Division.

The role involves fabricating or repairing metal parts using MIG, TIG, Stick, oxyacetylene, and SAW processes, with emphasis on interpreting blueprints and maintaining quality. The first shift runs Monday through Thursday, 5:00am–3:30pm, with alternating Fridays for a 4-day weekend every other week.

Qualifications

  • Must have 1–3 years welding experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine weld dimensions and sequence.
  • Measuring and marking dimensions on material for welding.
  • Set controls to regulate welding factors and monitor operations for quality.

Salary Range: $20.00 To $38.00 Hourly

Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc., is seeking a skilled Welder to join our Louisville, Ky team in the Steel Services Division! This position fabricates or repairs metal parts by welding, brazing, cutting and metal spraying, using Mig, Tig, Stick, Oxyacetylene, Submerged Arc welding and spraying equipment by applying their welding knowledge and skills to complete the assignments .

SHIFT DETAILS:

First shift: Monday - Thursday - 5:00am - 3:30pm one week, and Tuesday - Friday the next. This allows a 4-day weekend, Friday - Monday, every other week.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances before welding the work piece, establishing the sequence of operations and setting up requirements.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes' dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent welding
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate welding factors such as rotation speed, travel speed, tip angle, preheat and post heat
  • Starts and observes welding operations to detect malfunctions and adjusts machine controls to the required adjustments
  • Collaborates with engineers, production staff, programmers, and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve welding or assembly issues.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment and tests operations of unit to ensure functionality and performance
  • Recommends plan of action based on their welding expertise as applicable
  • Operates overhead cranes to transport, set or move work assignments and other material handling equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) High School is required.
  • Trade school training in welding is a plus.
  • Requires one to three years’ welding experience or combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to interpret and understand blueprints, sketches, and written instructions.
  • Strong analytical skills are necessary including problem solving.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Position requires standing, sitting, squatting, t wisting or stooping for long periods
