Job summary

Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc. in Louisville, KY is seeking a Service Technician for full-time manual labor. You will inspect, test, adjust, and repair mechanical and electrical components in air compressors and pump systems in commercial/industrial settings.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, dismantling units, repairing parts, installing piping, and ensuring safety guidelines are followed. Requires HS diploma and 3+ years' experience.

Qualifications

• Requires mechanical aptitude and ability to read and interpret technical information.
• Flexible in work schedule and able to handle varying demand.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Computer skills with Office suite and web-based apps.
• Basic electrical knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with customers to understand system issues and provide recommendations.
• Inspects equipment by visual checks, listening, and diagnostics to identify problems.
• Dismantles units to access internal components for inspection.
• Inspects, measures, and evaluates parts for wear or damage.
• Repairs equipment by replacing parts and realigning components using shop tools.
• Measures, cuts, and installs piping as needed for system function.
• Tests repaired equipment per manufacturer specs and verifies operation with customer.
• Drives and maintains a service van; keeps it in good condition.
• Follows all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Communicates with customers to understand system issues, discuss malfunctions, and provide follow-up recommendations.
• Inspects equipment by visually examining, listening, and using diagnostic methods to identify problems.
• Dismantles units to access and assess internal components.
• Inspects, measures, and evaluates parts for wear, misalignment, or damage.
• Repairs equipment by removing and replacing defective parts, realigning couplings or shafts, and fabricating or modifying components using tools such as a drill press or grinder.
• Measures, cuts, threads, and install piping as needed for system functionality.
• Tests repaired equipment by starting and adjusting controls per manufacturer's specifications and verifies proper operation with the customer.
• Drives and maintains a service van, ensuring it is serviced regularly and kept in good working condition .
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude is required
• Minimum of 3 years related experience preferred.
• Additional transferable skills to be considered include automotive/diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, industrial HVAC/plumbing, electrical, heavy equipment mechanics, millwrights, mechanical installations/services.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility in work schedule is required
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Above average computer skills to include working knowledge of Office, Word, Excel and other web-based apps
• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
• Bending, stooping, twisting, and standing for long periods of time will be required
• Position is subject to various climate conditions
• Basic electrical knowledge
