Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Receive instructions from welding supervisor and assemble parts.
  • Fit and assemble parts using welding techniques and equipment.
  • Apply welding principles to develop welds for new products.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces prior to welding and ensure tolerances.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Meet or exceed production standards.
  • Work without close supervision and perform quality checks.
  • Possibility of overtime and weekend shifts.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SummaryPerform a variety of welding, brazing and cutting techniques using gas and electric welding equipment while observing safety regulations and engaging in Unarco’s Total Quality Management philosophy. Must be able to perform multiple tasks throughout the day in a job shop environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReceives instructions for job from welding supervisor.Fits and assembles parts as required by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.Have the aptitude to work on new products by applying welding principals and traits to weld creatively, troubleshoot potential issues and develop possible resolutions.Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded, assembles and welds parts to required tolerance.Maintains a clean and orderly work area.Ability to lift 50 pounds at a reasonable rate in a normal day.Must meet or exceed production standards.Ability to work without close supervision.Perform quality checks as instructed through quality procedures.Must be able to work scheduled shift as well as overtime & weekends as required.Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, overhead and jib cranes in a safe and responsible manner.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsAbility to pass company entry level welding and tape testsMust be able to understand verbal and written ordersMust be able to weld clean, high quality, certifiable productMust be able to count and sort productsMust be able to read blue printsMust be able to complete inventory ticketsMust be able to set up welding machinesMust have manual dexterity skillsEducation and/or experienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)1 years experience in welding or less, preferably with 6 months of formal trainingPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
