Job description

Wastequip Steel Division has an immediate opportunity for a Welder to support our Erial, NJ manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will be a MIG Welder with prior experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks
  • Lay out, position, and tack weld workpieces
  • MIG weld along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines
  • Connect regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch. Turn regulator valves to activate flow of gases, light torch, and adjust gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame. Hold & guide torch at proper angle to cut metal
  • Examine welds for bead size and other specifications
  • Scar or groove welds and parts
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regularly stand, walk, reach, stoop, lift, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 90 lbs. occasionally
  • Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED/Technical School preferred
  • MIG welding experience is required
  • Six months or more of related experience and/or training preferred
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to understand and carry out detailed but simple written or oral instructions
  • Ability to read blueprints and measuring tapes
  • Experience in a fast-paced production environment preferred
  • Able to pass all EHS required tests and clearances
