Job summary

Dover Hydraulics Inc, a SunSource company, is seeking a skilled welder to read blueprints, select materials, and plan layouts for welding jobs. You will set up components, determine welding methods, and work with the Machine Shop manager to ensure best outcomes.

Responsibilities include welding in various positions, repairing machinery, and inspecting finished surfaces while maintaining safety. A HS diploma and apprenticeship or AWS cert are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Or Equivalent
• Proven experience as welder
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG etc.)
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
• Deftness and attention to detail
• Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
• Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus

• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

The main role of this position is to read blueprints and drawings, choose appropriate materials, take the appropriate measurements to plan layout and procedures of welding jobs and to determine appropriate equipment and welding methods based on requirements. Setting up the components according to specifications for welding and working closely with Machine Shop manager to determine best course of action and machinists is key to the success in this position.
