Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a Welder in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Welder is responsible for fabricating new components and welding, retrofitting, and repairing metals and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED. A minimum of one year experience welding and fabricating on heavy equipment with portable machines is required. Experience using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.) is preferred.
Requirements for the Welder position include:
Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items up to 70 pounds, and to perform reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing activities around heavy equipment. Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. This description is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned.
