Job summary

QXO is hiring for a welding/fabrication role in a manufacturing environment. You will fabricate, fit, and repair metal components, reading blueprints and ensuring parts meet precise specifications.

The job emphasizes quality, safety, and efficient collaboration with production and warehouse teams. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of welding or metal fabrication experience, holds or is pursuing an AWS-equivalent certification, and can operate MIG/TIG/Stick processes while adhering to PPE and OSHA

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years welding or metal fabrication experience.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Welding certification (AWS or equivalent) preferred.
  • Able to lift heavy materials and work in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, fit, repair, and weld metal components per specs.
  • Read and interpret drawings; cut, fit, grind, prepare components.
  • Inspect welds and finished products for quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to meet schedules.
  • Support continuous improvement and maintain safe working environment.
  • Operate welding equipment and perform basic maintenance.
  • Follow OSHA and PPE requirements; overtime as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, fit, repair, and weld metal components used in the production of building products, structural assemblies, and related equipment, performing precision welding and metal fabrication that meets company quality standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and production documents; cut, fit, grind, and prepare metal components for welding and assembly; perform torch cutting, material preparation, and finishing operations as required.
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair metal components and assemblies to meet quality and dimensional requirements; inspect completed welds and finished products to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Work on multiple fabrication and welding projects simultaneously while meeting production schedules; coordinate with production, operations, and warehouse teams to ensure materials and completed products are available when needed; assist with fabrication, assembly, and production activities as business needs require.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and workflow.
  • Safely operate welding equipment, torches, grinders, cutting equipment, and other fabrication tools; perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on welding equipment and tools; report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly; maintain welding consumables, materials, and shop supplies.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; ensure all welding and fabrication work meets company quality standards and customer specifications; report unsafe conditions, quality concerns, or production issues immediately; perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong welding, fabrication, fitting, and torch-cutting skills; ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and measurements; strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong organizational and time-management skills; mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 2 years of welding or metal fabrication experience; experience in manufacturing, construction, structural steel, rebar fabrication, or industrial fabrication environments.
  • Welding certification (AWS or equivalent) preferred; experience with MIG, TIG, Stick, or Flux-Core welding processes; forklift certification or ability to obtain certification is a plus.
  • Work is performed in manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, and industrial environments; frequent exposure to welding equipment, sparks, heat, noise, dust, and moving machinery; ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks; ability to frequently lift, carry, and move heavy materials using safe lifting techniques or mechanical assistance; ability to wear required PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and protective clothing; may require overtime or extended hours based on production schedules.
