Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a Welding Process Technician to troubleshoot welding processes, tooling, and equipment on the manufacturing floor and to verify weld quality.

You will train personnel, run capability studies, analyze scrap, and assist weld operators, with a focus on safety, documentation, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

  • Must read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of welding standards and safety practices.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to top quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina to work in varied positions for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot welding processes, tooling, and equipment; recommend corrective actions.
  • Notify production leaders of process improvements and when workflow deviation is needed.
  • Complete process checks on the floor to verify weld compliance and capability.
  • Maintain welding process documents; ensure each workstation has current documentation.
  • Run capability studies and document results appropriately.
  • Train manufacturing personnel on process changes or updates.
  • Assist launches by following sample parts and new jobs; quarantine and inspect as needed.
  • Analyze scrap and rework; suggest corrective actions.
  • Assist weld operators and welders as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshoots welding processes, tooling, and equipment and suggests corrective actions to resolve.
  2. Notifies production leaders of any process improvements being addressed and if workflow deviation is necessary.
  3. Completes process checks on the manufacturing floor to verify weld compliance and capability.
  4. Maintains welding process documents. Ensures each workstation has the necessary and accurate documentation.
  5. Runs capability studies and documents appropriately.
  6. Trains manufacturing personnel on process changes or updates.
  7. Assists in launches by following sample parts and new jobs through production. Ensures each new part is placed in quarantine and inspected appropriately.
  8. Analyzes scrap and rework and suggests corrective action.
  9. Assists weld operators and welders.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.

Experience Requirements

  • Three years professional welding experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Some physical demand. Often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to operate machinery over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
