  • Finish welds, remove slag, and prepare parts for shipment.
  • Dismantle assemblies and cut scrap metal as needed.
  • Maintain quality and adhere to customer specifications.

## Weld Technician 1**Clinton,TN37716**Posted: 09/09/2026Job Number: 2101## Job Description**Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities*** Uses hand-welding or flame-cutting to weld metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams. Performs duties with a high regard for safety and accuracy.* Operate safety equipment and use safe and efficient work habits.* Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and cutting torch.* Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material to ensure conformance with specifications.* Positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.* Analyzes shop drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.* Clamps, holds, tack-welds, grinds or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.* Grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment to smooth out rough edges and maintain safety.* Marks or tags material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required ensuring proper shipment to customers.* Dismantles metal assemblies or cuts scrap metal using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipment.* Performs daily activities and prioritizes tasks based on written and oral directions from Weld Lead and Manager.* Must complete process/facility training as assigned.* There is no supervision of other workers at this level.* Responsible for the quality of his/her own work and satisfying customer (internal and external) specifications* Must complete process/facility training as assigned* Performs other duties as assigned.**Job Requirements/Skills*** Basic knowledge of welding tools* Intermediate mechanical knowledge* Basic quality control analysis* Strong listening skills* Basic written, verbal and organizational skills* Strong interpersonal skills and team player attitude* General knowledge of local, state and federal health and safety regulations [e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)]* Ability to understand and apply health and safety regulations and requirements**Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions*** Ability to perform physically demanding work* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear a respirator* Ability to carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds* Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and kneel* Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and environments wherein there is exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, chemicals and mechanical and electrical hazards* Ability to work in extreme temperatures* Ability to effectively communicate; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location* Ability to work in or around moving vehicles, rotating equipment, and ladders/scaffolds* Basic math and computer skills; mechanical ability* Ability to wear protective equipment such as: goggles, ear plugs, gloves, and steel toe boots* Normal vision (with or without correction)* Ability to perceive depth and adjust focus; basic hand/eye coordination* Ability to see close and distance, basic colors/shades, and peripheral vision* Forklift certified| | || --- | --- || **Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements** | || ***Education*** * High School diploma or GED | ***Certifications*** * AWS D1.3 welding certification * Fork lift certification || ***Required Experience*** * None required | ***Preferred Experience*** * A minimum of 2 years of experience welding in the sheet metal industry | *EnergySolutions is an **Equal Opportunity Employer**.
