Job summary

Forza Steel Usa is seeking a skilled welder for fabrication and repair of metal structures in a full-time role in Brownsville, TX. Responsibilities include welding with SMAW, TIG, FCAW, and MIG, cutting with oxy-fuel and plasma, and reading blueprints to determine the correct welding process.

Candidates must read blueprints, perform routine maintenance, and adhere to safety policies. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work overtime or shifts as needed.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Knowledge of health and safety guidelines when dealing with dangerous equipment or chemicals
  • Good numerical and problem-solving skills
  • Mig, Tig, Stick and Carbon Steel welding
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in shifts and/or overtime

Responsibilities

  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material and structures using SMAW, TIG (Heliarc) (GTAW), FCAW and MIG welding techniques.
  • Able to use an oxygen-acetylene rig to cut materials for fabrication and/or repair
  • Able to use plasma cutting techniques.
  • Able to appropriately select the proper technique to fabricate and weld carbon steels.
  • Able to weld a solid free of defects 70S6 (HELIARC) root pass to a 6G position 6” pipe fill and cap with 7018, this test will qualify you for both pipe and structural.
  • Structural welding both vertical and overhead on carbon steel.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
  • Able to layout and fabricate metal and pipe assemblies and weldments for manufacturing and construction purposes with little to no guidance.
  • Perform routine checks and regular preventive maintenance on equipment to mitigate unplanned and unexpected failures.
  • Follow all safety policies, and safe work practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Able to use an oxygen-acetylene rig to cut materials for fabrication and/or repair
  • Able to use plasma cutting techniques.
  • Able to appropriately select the proper technique to fabricate and weld carbon steels.

  • Conduct routine and scheduled maintenance on complex machinery.
  • Conduct emergency repairs with limited downtime to prevent damage to machinery or injury to personnel.
  • Basic proficiency with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Record all maintenance and repair services performed, and keep track of all materials and parts used during the maintenance process.
  • Follow all safety policies, and safe work practices.
  • Comply with all safety signs and PPE requirements.
  • Report unsafe acts and near misses immediately.
  • Address problems with supervisor ASAP. BUT always try to give solutions to every problem. Re-address issues with supervisor on unresolved topics
  • We are looking for a self-starter motivated, an employee that takes pride of his accomplishments.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
