Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a skilled welder for a 3rd shift (10:30 PM – 6:30 AM), Sunday through Thursday at our Walker, MI plant. You will repair non-conforming parts using MIG or TIG welding, perform tagging, and move components within the facility while maintaining equipment and adhering to safety standards.

Qualified applicants will have 3–5 years welding experience, MIG/TIG certification, and the ability to read and follow complex work instructions in English.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to stand for 8-10 hours and perform duties with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to safely perform duties.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in relevant welding experience.
  • Certified in MIG and/or TIG welding.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols while servicing or maintaining equipment.
  • Repair parts/components by MIG/TIG welding.
  • Tag parts as required.
  • Move parts to correct location in the plant/facility.
  • Participate in preventative actions.
  • Utilize Plexus ERP system for transactions and tracking.
  • Maintain welding equipment and perform housekeeping in work area.

Who We Want

When And Where

This will be a 3rd Shift / 10:30 PM- 6:30 AM Sunday-Thursday position located at our Plant in Walker, MI. Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.

What You Need To Have
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to stand for 8-10 hours a day and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • 3-5 years in relevant work experience
  • Certified in mig and/or tig welding
  • Has high standards of performance for self. Take responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes. It is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; it demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
  • Able to be self-motivated and prioritize tasks as assigned

  • Uses feedback from others to continuously improve performance and work relationships.

  • Updates and relays pertinent information to shift supervisor and oncoming shift
  • Is at work when scheduled and ensures coverage when absent
