Job summary

AUTOKINITON located in Watertown, TN, seeks a welding engineer to join the corporate engineering team. You will work on welding methods, equipment selection, and quality control for new products across manufacturing facilities.

You will train weld engineers and trades, support new model launches, and lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts to maintain weld integrity and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; five to seven years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work with Microsoft Office at an intermediate level
• Ability to work with MQ1 and QAD database
• High level of cooperation and commitment
• Natural problem solver; adaptive to fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Work on corporate strategic projects.
• Develop new welding technologies related to product requirements.
• Support Operations in acquiring equipment knowledge.
• Specify welding equipment, consumables, systems, and components for welding.
• Assist in development of weld quality control process.
• Guide design develops and tests welding methods, materials, processes and results.
• Assist QA in maintaining weld integrity; interface with manufacturing and maintenance.
• Assist with MRO crib activities.
• Support project engineering on new and existing programs.
• Assist in integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment.
• Champion engineering changes and coordinate across departments.
• Train and mentor welding process for engineers and trades.
• Lead root cause analysis and problem solving (8D, meetings).
• Review and resolve weld cut/etch/destruct issues.
• Initiate cross-functional equipment design reviews.
• Support new model launches and improvement teams.
• Support tool tryouts at supplier and in-house capability runs.
