Job summary

AUTOKINITON in Plymouth, MI is hiring a full-time Welding Engineer to advance welding technologies for new products. You will specify equipment, contribute to weld quality, and support projects across engineering and operations.

The role requires hands-on welding expertise, MIG/spot welding knowledge, and experience with ABB/Fanuc robots and AutoCAD. You will mentor teams and help drive process improvements on site in Plymouth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years related experience.
• Hands-on in manual and automated welding.
• Experience with MIG and Spot-welding.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety, quality.
• Excellent welding and training skills.
• Knowledge in robotic welding and material handling.
• Knowledge in robotic programming (ABB, Fanuc).
• Understanding of electrical/controls circuitry and schematics.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and weld drawings.
• Mechanical ability.
• Specialized knowledge of weld power sources and related equipment.
• Customer welding specifications and testing requirements.
• Resistance spot welding.

Responsibilities

• Develop new welding technologies related to new products requirement.
• Support Operations in acquiring the needed level of equipment knowledge.
• Provide input into departmental strategic goals and key measurable targets.
• Specify welding equipment, consumables, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems for welding.
• Assist in development of weld quality control process.
• Guide design, develop and test welding methods, materials, processes and results.
• Support project engineering on new and existing programs.
• Assist in integration, start-up and debugging of welding equipment.
• Champion engineering changes and coordinate with departments.
• Train and mentor welding processes for engineers and trades.
