Job summary

The City of Lenexa, Kansas, is seeking a welcoming Welcome Desk Attendant for the Recreation Center. You will register members and participants for memberships, programs, activities, and classes while delivering friendly, attentive service to visitors.

You will handle registrations using our software, process payments, and assist with inquiries, tours, and event setup. The role requires standing for long periods, a positive demeanor, and a commitment to safety and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Satisfactory credit history.
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Recreation Center visitors.
  • Provide information about memberships, programs, and facility amenities.
  • Process memberships and program registrations using registration software.
  • Enforce Recreation Center policies and procedures.
  • Assist with special projects, including marketing materials, facility notices, and outbound calls.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk and lobby area.
  • Assist customers in person and over the phone with registration and inquiries.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Conduct facility tours and verify member check-ins.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service by greeting guests with a smile and direct eye contact.
  • Follow cash-handling procedures and perform daily close-out processes.
  • Support staffing and setup for events.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for registering individuals for memberships, programs, activities, and classes while providing excellent customer service to visitors and members. Schedule

This year-round position offers an average of 15-20 hours per week with a flexible schedule. We are especially looking for candidates who are available to work a variety of afternoon, evening and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Starting rate of pay

is $15.50 per hour.

Physical and Environmental Factors

The role requires the ability to stand continuously for up to four hours per shift, in addition to walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, gym equipment). Candidates should be comfortable with physical activity and working in conditions typical of a recreation center.

Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
