Job summary

The City of Appleton Health Department seeks a Weights & Measures Specialist to help protect consumers and ensure fair-trade practices. You will inspect weighing and measuring devices, advise merchants, and support enforcement actions under W&M regulations.

Work under the Operations Supervisor – Health, collaborating with local agencies and contributing to public health initiatives through data collection, testing, and education of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700.a, and 800 certification within six months of employment.
• Possess and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of weighing and measuring devices to ensure compliance with local and state codes.
• Provide education and technical assistance to merchants and vendors regarding W&M regulations.
• Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to accuracy and fair-trade practices in various settings.
• Respond to public complaints regarding W&M issues and assist in initiating corrective actions as required.
