Job summary

The Weights and Measures Services Division is recruiting for an Investigator in the West Valley and surrounding area. The primary mission is to promote equity and fairness in Arizona commerce by regulating and supporting businesses to protect both business and consumer interests.

Responsibilities include on-site inspections, sampling of motor fuels, and testifying as needed. Extensive travel within Arizona is required; lifting up to 50 pounds and driving state vehicles are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mass/volume units and measurement standards.
• Familiarity with NIST Handbook 44, 130, and 133.
• Understanding of federal and state weights and measures regulations.
• Ability to document and maintain chain of custody for samples.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections, audits, or investigations for compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Sample and analyze motor fuels sold at retail or terminals for specification compliance.
• Inspect gasoline vapor recovery systems for air quality compliance (Phoenix and Tucson).
• Issue enforcement actions including Administrative Orders and directives.
