Job summary

The Arizona Department of Agriculture is seeking a Weights and Measures Inspector to conduct on-site inspections, sample fuels, and enforce state regulations in the West Valley and surrounding areas.

Extensive travel is required; work outdoors up to 80% of the time, lift 50 pounds, and operate large vehicles. The role includes education of industry, testifying as an expert witness, and joining enforcement actions.

Qualifications

• Experience with weights and measures regulations.
• Ability to travel extensively within assigned district.
• Excellent report writing and investigation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections and investigations to determine compliance with federal and state requirements.
• Sample and analyze motor fuels for compliance with specs.
• Inspect gasoline vapor recovery systems in Phoenix/Tucson areas and enforce related regulations.
• Issue enforcement actions including Administrative Orders.
• Interpret technical data per NIST and CARB procedures to determine compliance.
