City of Appleton Wisconsin is seeking a qualified candidate to support W&M inspections and compliance efforts within the Health Department. The role involves data analysis, program coordination, and public communications to promote fair-trade practices and consumer protection.

Collects and analyzes data from W&M inspections, interprets results, and makes recommendations for corrective actions. Provides technical assistance and regulatory compliance advice to Individuals, Groups, And Organizations Regarding W&M Issues.
Assists in coordinating W&M activities with other agencies and jurisdictions. Collaborates in the development of best management practices and regulations for consumer protection.
Delivers targeted, culturally-appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand W&M policies and regulations.
Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, and racial backgrounds. Adheres to ethical principles and department policies in the collection, maintenance, use, and dissemination of data and information.
Educates the public on W&M issues and the importance of fair-trade practices. Contributes to community health Assessment And Improvement Planning Activities As Needed.
Conducts routine inspections of commercial weighing and measuring devices to ensure compliance with local and state codes, regulations, and policies. Provides education and technical assistance to merchants and vendors regarding compliance with W&M regulations. Assists in identifying and resolving issues related to accuracy and fair-trade practices in various settings. Responds to public complaints regarding W&M issues and assists in initiating corrective actions as required. Participates in response efforts emergencies, as required. Contributes to quality improvement and performance management activities within the Health Department.
Assists in activities that contribute to budget development and efficient use of resources.
Demonstrates knowledge of applicable professional guidelines and federal and state laws and regulations. Pursues ongoing professional growth and development through education and participation in professional committees and work groups.
Maintains Regular Punctual And Predictable attendance. Assists public health through contact tracing and data analytics, providing essential support during public health emergencies.
This position requires a high school diploma and two years of related experience involving technical, mechanical, inspection, regulatory, maintenance, or similar work; or a combination of applicable experience and training. Prior experience in weights and measures is not required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical aptitude, mechanical ability, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and an ability to learn and apply technical procedures and regulations. The selected candidate must be willing to complete required training and fulfill State Bureau of Weights and Measures requirements. We are willing to train the right candidate.
