Job summary

Rescue Mission in Syracuse, NY is seeking a compassionate Client Care Specialist for the 2nd shift in our Emergency Shelter. This part-time role focuses on supporting individuals experiencing homelessness with respect, safety, and access to resources.

The position offers weekend warrior pay, shift differential, and opportunities to work closely with a dedicated team to promote stability and independence for clients in crisis. Training is provided within 30 days of starting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate degree in Human Services or related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, professional relationships with clients.
• Provide support and encouragement to help clients achieve independence.
• Treat all clients with respect, dignity, and compassion.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients.
• Help create a safe, welcoming shelter environment.
• Conduct regular rounds to ensure client safety.
• Assist clients with basic needs and bedding.
• Respond to client concerns calmly and professionally.
• Reinforce shelter guidelines and expectations.
• Connect clients with Rescue Mission services and resources.
• Document client information maintaining confidentiality.
• Communicate with team members and participate in meetings.
• Complete required training within 30 days of assignment.

Education
