Job summary

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a Supervisor of Specimen Processing for our Madison, WI location. This role leads a night shift focused on quality and productivity, manages workflow, and coaches staff toward development and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include daily operations, performance feedback, and cross-functional collaboration to meet department goals. The ideal candidate has leadership experience in a lab setting and works evenings/weekends as required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field; or High School Diploma/ GED and 2 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 3+ years of experience working in a laboratory, medical or high throughput production environment.
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• 2+ years using computers including Internet navigation, email usage, MS Office.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower staff to meet quality and productivity goals for the shift and department.
• Manage daily shift operations and organize efficient workflow; maintain equipment and delegate tasks.
• Organize and lead routine team meetings and one-on-one employee meetings.
• Coach direct reports through career and professional development.
• Monitor and provide feedback on performance metrics such as attendance, productivity and quality.
• Interview and recruit employees that meet core values and fit the team.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process deviations.
• Support Quality Management System policies and GDP documentation.
