Job summary

Abbott in Madison, WI, is seeking a Supervisor, Specimen Processing to lead the night/ weekend shift at the Cancer Diagnostics location. This role oversees daily operations, staffing, and performance management within Specimen Processing, under supervision of the Manager, Specimen Processing.

You will work to ensure accurate data reporting, adherence to policies, and effective cross-functional collaboration to support Abbott Cancer Diagnostics Laboratories' mission.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field required or 2 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 3+ years of experience working in a laboratory, medical or high throughput production environment.
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• 2+ years using computers including MS Office; familiarity with laboratory data systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower staff to meet quality and productivity goals for the shift and department.
• Manage daily shift operations, organize workflow, delegate tasks, and maintain equipment.
• Organize routine team meetings and 1-on-1 employee meetings.
• Coach direct reports through career and professional development.
• Monitor employee performance metrics and provide feedback.
• Recruit and interview employees who meet core values.
• Investigate and resolve test record and automation issues to maintain turnaround times.
• Support Quality Management System policies and GDP documentation.
