Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Supervisor for Specimen Processing in Madison, WI. The role oversees the night–weekend shift, staffing, scheduling, coaching, and performance management within the Specimen Processing Department, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GDP and quality policies.

Responsibilities include guiding shift operations, training, and continuous improvement while collaborating with Lab leadership and other departments to achieve turnaround targets and compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; 2+ years in lab/production environment in lieu of degree accepted.
• 3+ years in a laboratory, medical or high-throughput production setting.
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower staff to meet quality and productivity goals.
• Manage daily shift operations and delegate tasks.
• Organize routine team meetings and 1-on-1s with employees.
• Coach direct reports on career development and performance metrics.
• Maintain shift staffing with clinical lab management for coverage.
• Recruit staff who align with core values.
• Investigate test records and automation issues to meet turnaround times.
• Perform root cause analysis for deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Support Quality Management System policies and GDP documentation.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives as needed.
