Job Overview
Inspects and may test every incoming batch of chemicals and products. Conducts tests on chemicals being used, such as catalysts, to correlate with temperature and humidity in the plant on a daily basis. Tests the strength, accuracy of dimensions, cracks, etc., of finished products to measure pressure and performs other tests on products and parts. Makes adjustments to tanks of chemicals depending on environmental conditions. Mixes custom chemicals as needed. Performs duties to ensure all chemicals and parts are acceptable, as well as the finished products.
A Day In The Life
Tests and inspects all chemicals incoming to the plant before allowing transfer into storage tanks. Reads meters, gauges, and other instruments; reports inventory levels to ensure tanks are ready for more product. Tests parts and materials to ensure they meet requirements, dimensions, and finish specifications. Checks material and chemicals for content percentages. Operates forklifts to change drums or move materials and chemicals. Samples drums, tanks, etc., for testing. Uses computers, gauges, instruments, and other equipment for testing and inspection. Ensures incoming products comply with company specifications before acceptance. Inspects parts for cracks, finish, fiberglass incorporation, contour, and other physical characteristics. Measures parts for dimensional accuracy using tools or templates. Confers with line leaders and other team members as needed. Physically inspects parts, lifting weights up to about 35 pounds, or uses assistance or a hoist. Conducts structural testing of products. Uses math skills to adjust chemicals, test products, and assist with formulas and bills of materials.
