Job summary

MEC (Mayville Engineering Company, Inc.) is seeking a Material Handler to support production through organized material flow, accurate transactions, and timely movements. You will pull materials, relay information to Material Support, and help meet schedules while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities include operating material handling equipment during peak times, maintaining shop floor control, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
• Forklift certification is a plus.
• Basic math and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
• Assists during daily peak times to operate material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Maintains communication with management and shift teams and supports cross-shift feedback.
• Assists supervisor with continuous improvement projects, equipment evaluation, training needs, and interviewing/hiring.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows safety procedures, wears PPE, and correctsUnsafe conditions when identified.
• Explores system and procedure improvements and proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods. Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
• When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with continuous improvement projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE, and proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
• Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement and proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy–weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11–27 kgs) material.
• Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8–12 hours).
• Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8–12 hours).
• Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8–12 hours).
• May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8–12 hours).
