Job summary

UPMC’s Harrisburg area scheduling team is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator for weekends (Saturdays and Sundays, 10-hour shifts) with flexibility. The role focuses on scheduling patient appointments, maintaining demographics, and communicating with patients in a courteous manner.

Responsibilities include handling calls, updating EPIC/EMR records, coordinating with nurses and physicians, and providing support to the department as needed.

Qualifications

• BA degree with 1 year of related fiscal/admission/registration experience or 2 years of college/business school/medical secretary training with 1–2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of health insurance terminology and third-party coverage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with patients before and after services.
• Answer calls promptly and greet visitors professionally.
• Enter information into the EPIC/EMR system and maintain patient records.
• Coordinate with nurses, physicians, and staff to ensure smooth scheduling.
• Provide coverage in absence of department secretaries and manage office supplies.
