Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospice in the New River Valley service area is seeking a Weekend RN to provide after-hours nursing care, assessments, and crisis response with a compassionate approach. Work with an interdisciplinary team to ensure timely guidance and support for patients and families.

The role requires Virginia RN licensure and at least 2 years of nursing experience (hospice, home health, med/surg, acute, or geriatric). EMR documentation is a daily responsibility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Virginia RN licensure.
• Minimum 2 years in nursing, including hospice, home health, med/surg, acute care, or geriatric nursing.
• Experience with EMR documentation and general computer applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration with the IDT.

Responsibilities

• Provide weekend on-call coverage and respond to patient and caregiver needs.
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and admissions as needed.
• Make home or facility visits to address urgent patient care needs.
• Document all patient interactions and care in the EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians and IDT to coordinate patient care and resources.
• Educate patients and families about hospice philosophy and plan of care.
