Job summary

Good Samaritan is seeking a Weekend RN to join our mission-driven team. This role provides weekend on-call coverage, conducts nursing assessments, and delivers direct patient care in home or facility settings within the New River Valley area.

The ideal candidate holds a Virginia RN license with hospice/home health experience, strong clinical judgment, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team and families.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Virginia RN licensure.
Experience in hospice, home health, med/surg, or geriatric nursing preferred.
Ability to use EMR and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

Provide weekend on-call coverage and respond to patient or caregiver calls and crises.
Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and complete admissions as needed.
Make home or facility visits to address urgent patient care needs.
Coordinate with attending physicians, staff, and other agencies for optimal care.
Educate patients and families on hospice philosophy, symptom management, and care plan.
Collaborate with the IDT by reporting changes in patient status and concerns.
Support RN Case Managers with after-hours visits to maintain continuity of care.
Document all patient interactions, visits, and care in the EMR.
Provide thorough shift reports to the IDT.
