Job summary

Palmetto Subacute Care Center in Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join its skilled nursing team. The RT will assess and treat geriatric residents with respiratory conditions, work independently with minimal supervision, and provide a range of therapies.

The RT will initiate therapies, document care, participate in IDT meetings, and maintain equipment. Requires COARC accredited education, RRT/CRT license and Florida license, BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program. Licensed as RRT or CRT.
• Licensed in the state in which practicing. BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory assessments and therapies for rehab patients with diverse respiratory and non-respiratory illnesses.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate, check, and assemble equipment.
• Provide bedside treatments including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, PEP, deep breathing and coughing, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, airway management, CPR, and pulmonary function testing.
• Complete in-services for nursing staff quarterly and ensure daily, weekly, monthly documentation.
• Attend applicable IDT meetings and support residents with tracheotomy care when needed.
• Track caseloads, perform audits, and carry out related duties per facility procedures.
